Oregon lawmakers: No sick pay for you
Business leaders opposed to mandatory sick pay for employees got their way in the Oregon Legislature, at least for one year.
A hearing Wednesday before the House Rules Committee resulted in the proposal being shelved. However, an interim committee will be appointed to explore the issue, possibly resulting in a bill for the 2014 or 2015 legislative sessions.
The interim committee will include leave advocates and business interests, said Rep. Michael Dembrow (D-Portland), one of the bill's sponsors.
