I was the first person in my family to attend college. It changed my life. It opened the doors of opportunity, and helped me build a life for my family. That's the American Dream. But for far too many, the promise of college now comes with the threat of crushing student loan debt. Some students today are taking on college debt that's the size of a home mortgage! Student loan debt is causing some of our young people to give up on their own American Dream. Some are choosing to forgo college altogether, and others grind away at jobs they hate because they need the income to pay student loan bills. It doesn't have be like this. We've won round one -- reducing interest rates for new borrowers. But today, I'm asking you to join Elizabeth Warren and me in round two of this fight.
