Wyden's Internet anti-tax act extended, lawmakers seek more

The U.S. House has extended an Internet tax act espoused by Oregon’s U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden, among others.

The House passed the Internet Tax Freedom Act, written by Wyden and Rep. Christopher Cox, a California Republican, in 1998. The measure prohibits governments from taxing Internet access as well as levying fees on bandwidth and email.

The measure was set to expire in November. This marks the third time Congress has extended it.
