Dupont Pioneer Shatters Record for Largest Oregon Political Contribution
Today's example: the mammoth $4.6 million check that Dupont Pioneer, an Iowa-based agri-business company, dumped into the No on 92 campaign, which is seeking to block the labeling of genetically modified foods.
The previous record for the largest single contribution to a political campaign was set in 2007 by the tobacco giant Philip Morris, which (successfully) sought to defeat a cigarette tax. Monsanto tied that mark with a $2.5 million contribution to the No on 92 campaign earlier this month.
