Lake Oswego City Council: Harsh words suggest frustrations

“Stick it.”

“Idiots.”

“You’re a bunch of jerks.”

“This is the stupidest meeting I’ve ever been to.”

Some Lake Oswego residents had strong words for their elected leaders Monday night, when the city council approved changes that relax some environmental protections in response to concerns about regulations on private land. As many as 150 people attended the public hearing at city hall.

The vocal critics were upset, in part because the council wouldn’t delay a vote until two new councilors join the seven-member body in January.
