After Sam Adams' departure, City Club is searching for a new civic champion

It took 16 days after Sam Adams left the Portland mayor's office to find a new job.

When he accepted the position to guide the City Club of Portland in early 2013, the group that aims to guide the future of the city was struggling to find its place.

Flash forward two years, and the City Club's membership is up 47 percent. As board president Karen Kervin describes it, Adams had a "transformational impact" on the 99-year-old organization.
