Wyden wants IRS to clarify EV charging benefits

An Oregon senator wants the Internal Revenue Service to clarify how electric vehicle charging is treated for employee tax purposes.

Sen. Ron Wyden sent a letter to IRS Commissioner John Koskinen asking that the agency issue guidance addressing the type of benefit that EV charging actually is. Wyden maintains it's a de minimis fringe benefit, which means that it shouldn't be included as an employee’s income.
