Oregon weed shops could soon get access to banks thanks to Sen. Merkley bill
A U.S. Senate committee has approved an amendment that would better allow banks to serve marijuana businesses that operate legally under state law.
The Senate Appropriations Committee passed an amendment to the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill that would forbid the use of federal funds to penalize financial institutions that serve cannabis retailers and other pot industry companies that operate in Oregon, among other states.
