Ron Wyden wages losing fight against cybersecurity bill in Senate

Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden was on the losing side of a big high-tech privacy issue Tuesday when the Senate voted 74-21 for a cybersecurity bill aimed at foiling online hackers.

The Oregon Democrat, one of Congress' leading critics of government surveillance, argued that the measure would do little to stop sophisticated hackers while making it easier for government agencies to obtain the personal data of Americans.
