Doubling the tax would double the revenue, most of which would be used in the same way existing revenue is used. The cost of lodging would rise slightly, but most of the increase would be paid by people visiting here from elsewhere. According to Davidson, out-of-state visitors account for about 75 percent of overall spending by overnight travelers, including spending on hotel bookings.
