Deep differences threaten fragile peace at Capitol

Last week 30 Republicans — joined by two Democrats — approved a bill that created $93 million in accelerated tax write-offs for business equipment purchases. The amended bill also contained $15.1 million in breaks for education costs and health care on 2010 returns and won unanimous approval in the Senate the next day.
