Oregon Attorney General John Kroger gave Gov.-elect John Kitzhaber early briefing in the Energy Department investigation

Attorney General John Kroger gave Gov.-elect John Kitzhaber an exclusive briefing Dec. 2 about an ongoing state criminal investigation that had focused in part on Kitzhaber's companion, Cylvia Hayes. The "primary purpose" of the meeting, Kroger said, was to inform Kitzhaber personally that his investigators had concluded weeks earlier that Hayes had not done anything wrong.
