Back to the drawing board: The first redistricting maps proposed by Republicans and Democrats are flawed
Oregonians ought to be disappointed but not surprised by the opening gambits of Democrats and Republicans represented on the Legislature's redistricting committees. While a lot of work has gone into these first legislative and congressional maps -- which will be discussed at public hearings at 5 p.m. today, 10 a.m. Friday and 5 p.m. May 24 in the state Capitol -- parts of them are overtly and crudely partisan.
