Health insurers have little to fear
Oregon’s insurance companies have nothing to fear from a little transparency.
That’s why their opposition to Oregon Senate Bill 717 is curious.
The bill, introduced by Portland Democrat Chip Shields, seeks a mandatory public hearing whenever a health insurer proposes to raise rates by 7 percent or more.
It’s a reasonable proposal.
