Parties claim victories as session ends

Oregon’s lawmakers have put the lid on the 2011 legislative session. Legislators on both sides of the aisle immediately grabbed credit for bills that they say boosted education funding, will provide jobs, tightened health care rules and will enable more economic development statewide. Officials agreed Thursday afternoon to the “sine die” provision that closes Oregon’s 2011 session. The next “short session” begins next February.
