Foreclosure bills die in committee

Two bills designed to aid homeowners in foreclosure died in committee when the Oregon Legislature adjourned on Thursday. Senate Bill 827 would have strengthened foreclosure safeguards by giving the state’s attorney general the authority to go after lenders who violate the law. Senate Bill 826 would have placed additional restrictions and limitations on servicers who collect payments but don’t own the underlying mortgage loan.
