Cogen says no to Portland mayoral bid

Multnomah County’s chair revealed Monday he won’t seek Portland’s mayoral post. Jeff Cogen had been mentioned as a possible candidate for Portland mayor since winning the top Multnomah job in May 2010. Cogen confirmed that he won’t run for mayor in 2012 in a column posted on the Blue Oregon political website. The move leaves two candidates — New Seasons co-founder Eileen Brady and former Portland City Commissioner Charlie Hales — in a likely race against Portland Mayor Sam Adams.
