In 2009, Mayor Sam Adams and commissioners supported what they called permitting "co-location," a move that further consolidated permitting functions at 1900 SW 4th Avenue. There, builders and business owners now can seek permission to expand their facilities or services from city officials in multiple bureaus, including water, transportation, parks and building services.
