Willie Nelson endorsing Oregon Cannabis Tax Act

KOIN:

Country music star and admitted pot smoker, Willie Nelson, has endorsed an initiative in Oregon to legalize marijuana. The Oregon Cannabis Tax Act 2012(OCTA) would make it legal for adults to grow and possess their own marijuana, and legalize sales of cannibus through state licensed stores. Chief petitioner, D. Paul Stanford, said OCTA would make the state millions of dollars in revenue. According to a Harvard economist, Stanford said, OCTA would generate about 200M each year, which equals about five percent of the total state budget. Stanford owns a chain of TCHF medical clinics, which help qualified patients find doctors to prescribe medical marijuana, and recently helped Nelson get an Oregon medical marijuana card. Stanford asked Nelson to record an endorsement video and he agreed. Stanford hopes the world's most famous pot smoker will help OCTA 2012 volunteers collect the 87,213 valid signatures of registered Oregon voters by July 6 to get the initiative on this November's ballot. --Kacey Montoya Follow @kaceymontoya!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");
