East Portland streets to get makeovers

The East Portland transportation plan is a go.

Portland’s City Council voted 3-0 to adopt the strategy that aims to improve roads and sidewalks and add more bike routes to the city’s east side.

Mayor Sam Adams and commissioners Amanda Fritz and Randy Leonard voted to back the plan. Commissioners Nick Fish and Dan Saltzman were absent during the vote.

The plan will cost around $20 million. Money will come from several governmental sources, including the city, and federal grants.
