Ballots sent out for Ore. Special Election

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Oregon Secretary of State's office has begun to mail ballots for the May 15 primary. The ballots mailed Friday in the state's vote-by-mail elections include races for attorney general, Congress and several seats in the Legislature. Democratic voters will be choosing the state's attorney general in a contest between former U.S. Attorney Dwight Holton and former judge Ellen Rosenblum. Republicans did not field a candidate. U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio faces a challenge from the son of his 2010 opponent. Matthew Robinson says he's a conservative who's running as a Democrat to have a shot at defeating DeFazio. A handful of incumbent state legislators are facing tough challenges from within their own parties, including Democratic Rep. Mike Schaufler of Happy Valley and Republican Sen. Chris Telfer of Bend.(Copyright 2012 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
