Bush & Kerry: Together Again

Today, the two presidential campaigns both show up in Portland. Consider this an open invitation to talk about presidential politics. Discuss.

    My thoughts are three:

    1. Given that Little Beirut has flared up again, Bush may have thought sneaking in on the same day as Kerry would keep the growling rabble away (it doesn't hurt that the Bushies aren't disclosing time/location).

    2. In the PR war between camps, this strategy has turned into a boondoggle. We have one candidate throwing a big party in the city's ode to a real uniter--governor McCall--while Bush skulks behind enemy lines.

    3. Resulting press will show a massive, rowdy, eminently little-d democratic crowd celebrating Kerry while a wee, subdued, insular group of GOP apparatchiks clap like seals for the candidate to whom they--the ultraloyal--have already pledged fealty.

Dumbo the Baby Flying Elephant is lying now about Kerry and Dumbo is betraying soldiers, Dumbo lied about his AWOL dereliction and insubordination, Dumbo lies about the jobs he's ending and his collapsing economy and his tax cut ruins, Dumbo lied to get soldiers killed invading Iraq, and before he was elected he lied about being charged in court with drunk driving.

We all see Dumbo lies. The question to good people is: Why do we maintain elaborate and no-evidence theories to support Dumbo's story of 9/11? Why assume he is not lying on that one day? Just because they showed us some names and faces on TV? They swept away the remains and are hiding documents and gagging witnesses from reporters. Dumbo is lying what caused 9/11, and we can be certain simply because HE ALWAYS LIES, that's his pattern.

We may not know who pulled off the 9/11 attack, which is full of unexplained Pentagon and FBI and White House look-away's at critical points, but we can be sure whatever Dumbo says 9/11 was --> HE IS LYING. We see Bush lie in EVERY thing.

If he says they did it then Islamic suicides did NOT do 9/11. Bush DID do 9/11, meaning to kill American freedom and put in a military police state.

And if him and his traitors staged one most-murderous crime on American soil, and they say it is coming again ... are we so stupified in fear we can't stop from being fooled twice? Shame on us.

Analyze all the tricks and double-crosses, Dumbo deserting the Constitution and betraying our nation, DeLay's House of Fascism, and on and on, and see if this works for you and blogger power everywhere to get behind and make happen. What can one person do? -> Cancel a Cable TV subscription.

A nationwide strike. Begin a boycott of cable TV. Cable TV buyers is the money funding the fascism, (a big part of it).

Cut off the GOP cash flow. Crash the media and bankrupt their stocks and corporate advertisers. Bloggers and the internet CAN DO this. Kill the propaganda pipeline.

Thanks for the tip. I'm an old newbie.

What I say is: People see that Bush lies in everything he says.

So what he says happened on 9/11 is a lie. So 9/11 was not 19 Islamic fanatic hijackers, etc. etc. So there is no global terror network. So there is no threat to America from invisible people who hate us and want to take over the world. That's all a lie. Like Santa Claus. But it really gets people plugged in when they hear it. But it's a lie. Yeah, I saw the planes and the flames and people dying. No, 19 Islamic fanatic hijackers did not do it. There is no global terror network. The military-industrial complex, which gets fi'ty cents of your every federal tax dollar, are just people who need a job. We pay them and they kill innocent people. But they are not protecting us from anything. There's no scare there. There is no threat to America. From outside. How'd you like your taxes cut in half? How'd you like some people who have been killed to be alive instead?

On the other hand, you could argue Bush tells the truth about 9/11, and it was the only time he ever did. As if he knows what happened. That argument could be made ... heh-hehaha ha haaaa-ha-ha, oh, oh, o-haaa haaa HAAA o-hah, heh, oh oh whew ... that argument could be made. Yeah.

I say Bush is lying. And all the ones around him who like our money and their power and staying elected -- share his lie. There's a whole war of terror industry, like the Christmas presents industry, and each is depending on its lie to get us to give them money so they can get paid and stay in business. But neither one of them -- war of terror, Christmas shopping -- gets us any closer to liberty and justice for all, which is what we're spending our lives for. Maybe I'm crazy, I'm an old newbie.

And I say we vote for people who are going to find out and tell us what happened on 9/11, because what Bush said happened is a lie. He always lies. Unless you're saying he told the truth that time ... and there really are dangers to us 'out there' not here, but we just can't find them ... and global terrorists are real ... and they scare the bejeebers out of us ...

Kind of hard to let it go, isn't it.
But there is no global terrorists. (It's like the WMD thing.)
That doesn't mean there can't be a Massive Terrorist Event before the elections. After all, there were no terrorists before, but 9/11 still happened. 9/11 happened but that didn't make terrorists exist, 'out there'. There IS evidence 19 Islamic fanatics did NOT do it. There is NO shown evidence they did do it, But the strongest logic to prove 19 Islamic fanatics DID NOT do it is because Bush said they DID. And he makes a lot of money when he can scare us. And he goes to prison when he can't.

Kerry Opens Leads in Several Key States The Associated Press

WASHINGTON Aug. 12, 2004 — Sen. John Kerry has ...leads in Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire and a handful of other battleground state polls since accepting the Democratic nomination, increasing pressure on President Bush .... In addition, Pennsylvania and Oregon a combined 28 electoral votes were evenly split in July, and now ... tilt toward Kerry ....

    <hr/>

'Nuff said. The Oregonian doesn't say THAT little. Nor does the TV news.

The fret-and-worry sweat about finding some way, some appeal, some argument, that is going to convert the corruption-sotted 'angry white male' groupthink mass media from the error of its greedy ways, is a sweated pain with no gain.

The mass media cannot be converted. It became what it beheld: bad news graft and greed. (They should have been mixing in good-news stories, and inspirations, all these years.)

But mass media can be put out of business. Right here, right now. Sure, those people lose those jobs. But the good journalists can come back in whatever media organizations emerge in the millennium reformation. The chaff journalists are, alas, dust before the wind.

One person can take action that makes the future. Cancel our subscriptions to Cable TV and The Newspaper.

    Mind bloggling.

I looked (even though I didn't see this til now), but didn't see you. Can't imagine why.

I was the one walking in a two hour line to get in only to have people show up out of nowhere and cut into line when we were six blocks away.

Not a very democratic attitude, if you ask me.

  • (Show?)

I love the art of politicians customizing speeches for their location. But I can't help but wonder how many of the people at the rally knew what he was talking about when he mentioned the coin toss that resulted in our being called Portland instead of Boston.

Man, that crowd looks huge. See, what did I tell you? Bon Jovi - works every time.

I couldn't get in, alas. Fire marshals stopped letting more people in at 11:30, and I was still way back in line after an hour of waiting, at least - the line started off at the end of the Hawthorne Bridge when I got there. But I did have some, er, "celebrity sightings" of my own - the O's editorial contingent - from my post at Front and Jefferson.

KGW's now saying crowd estimates range from 20-50K, and Kerry people are saying it's the largest crowd he's had on the tour.

  • (Show?)

And if it's the largest, then it has to be more than 25k. Theresa Kerry was on KATU saying they had like 25k in Harrisburg (I think it was), but that Portland for sheer numbers beat any other stop on the tour.

  • (Show?)

I got in after 11:30. I think what they closed down around that time was the front gated section. The back part of The Bowl was, by the time I got there, just sort of open at several points, no gate, no security.

  • (Show?)

According to KATU, latest crowd estimate from Portland Fire & Rescue is a whopping 50,000.

    Good job, people of Portland.

  • (Show?)

Now this is why we need to bring professional baseball or football to Oregon.

So when the next President comes to town like he did today there'll be a place big enough for people to go see him.

All this and nothing to show for it. Neither one of these candidates have much new to say. Both favor the invasion of Iraq. Maybe the circumstances would be different. Both supported the Patriot Act. Today the U.S. maintains 250,000 troops in over 120 nations around the world at a huge cost to the American taxpayer. Of course we borrow to fund this and about 40% of the interest on that borrowing goes to foreign institution. Neither one of these candidates speaks of ever bringing those troops home and stopping this worldwide welfare program our government calls defense. Sometime in the future when the need to fund Social Security, Medicare, etc collide with an aging population and our Defense spending this problem is going to get some attention. Then we will be in an interesting situation.
