Mabon to run for Governor in '06 - as a lesbian
OCA leader Lon Mabon announced today that he will seek the Republican Party's nomination for governor in 2006 as "Lynn" Mabon. The once and future gubernatorial candidate said he is in the first stages of gender reassignment, yet still finds women attractive.
"If my sexual preferences don't change," he laughed, "I guess that would make me a lesbian." Mabon said he plans to seek the endorsement of Basic Rights Oregon.

Hmmm... well, these are kinda funny posts today, but not exactly "April Fools".
The key to a good April Fools item is that it needs to actually fool people.
And in this case, the very idea that Lon Mabon would run for Governor as a lesbian is so ridiculous as to be immediately unbelievable.
I mean, everybody knows that Mabon is going through "gender reassignment" because he's such a homophobe that his natural attraction to MEN is causing him to seek surgical redress... <nobr>;-)</nobr>
