30-Minute Gubernatorial Interviews
Starting this Sunday, the show Outlook Portland - hosted by Nick Fish - is running a seven-part series on the governor's race. Each candidate will get 30 minutes of TV time to discuss the issues with Nick.
This Sunday, it's Ron Saxton. Next Sunday, Jason Atkinson. The rest, including Ben Westlund, to follow.
According to Nick, the questions for Saxton:
1. Why he thinks he can win in 2006, after a 24 year drought for Republican candidates for governor. 2. How a nominally pro-choice candidate can win in a pro-life party. 3. His support for Measure 37, TABOR, and a capital gains cut. 4. His position on education funding, PERS and immigration reform. 5. Whether Barry Bonds belongs in the Hall of Fame. 6. And much more.
Watch the show - and discuss here afterwards.

Call me a conservative liberal - but how can he support something like TABOR. It sounds like a poorly implemented tax limitation system - cut your nose off to spite your face.
Isn't there some sort of middle ground - there is a huge difference between social services that cost tax payers a great amount of money. If unions are the issue, can't there be a cap on earnings? I look at some state jobs, and some folks are earning like $20,000 and others that are mid level managers (without masters/doctorate) earning over $100,000. Are those people really worth 5 times more???

I think someone needs to ask him to join the "bowtie revolution." His fat head would look great with a bowtie.

Did Barry Bonds do something illegal before last year?

The Coyote has dug up some interesting dirt on Mannix and the ORP over at NW Republican blog.
And in his completely irrational and illogical way, as he is wont to do, he tries to spin it back on the Oregonian as a tool of Ron Saxton's - ha.
Looks like someone commanding the echo chamber asked him to set out some advance spin before the story hits the papers. Ohh. maybe I'm adding to their strategy by alerting everyone here.
Oh well. Once you read his prose you'll see the ineptitude.

Dickey hit the nail on the head. The point is we aren't supposed to ask about management salaries. That became very clear to me years ago when I asked Rep. Gallegos to her face why there were state employees like the head of SAIF who made more than the Gov. and she said angrily, THE GOVERNOR DEALS WITH PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNIONS!
They don't want to admit that maybe the over paid state employees are management, not unionized.
