Les AuCoin warns of last-minute push poll
Former Congressman Les AuCoin is warning readers of his blog that Oregon voters could see a massive push poll effort in the closing days of the campaign:
Look for Saxton to use his remaining resources (and don’t think the $680,000 balance ending October 22 is all he’ll have) on one of the sleasiest political tactics on the books—a “push poll.” ...Take it from one who knows: Bob Packwood spent $900,000 on a push poll against me over the final weekend in the 1992 race for the U.S. Senate. Legitimate overnight polls had showed us deadlocked for weeks; the push poll was enough for him to eke out a win.
