Peralta: Not conceding yet

On another thread today, Sal Peralta made this comment - and it deserves its own post:

I'd to begin by thanking the local Democratic Party for their support. Without strong grassroots support, we'd not have been in this race.

I just want to say that I've just gotten off of the phone with our County Clerk who tells me that there are between 1000 and 2000 ballots that were rejected by the machines that need to be reprocessed, and that ballots are still coming in from neighboring counties.

We're going to make sure that every vote gets counted before we take a position on the outcome of the race.

As of the last count at 1 a.m., Sal is down by 301 votes.

You're a good man Sal, keep up the good fight. You deserve the job.

You make us so proud, Sal! You "get it". It's about the votes and the counting, and you have said it so well. We developed whole campaign around this issue for the 2006 election called "Democracy, It's Worth the Wait." (Sorry if the link isn't working right now -- temporarily down I think.)

Thanks for your inspiring campaign --- we will never forget it!

    Your pal,

Does anyone have information on Jim Gilbertson's race in House District 59? Last time I checked he was only 205 votes down.

You're the man, Sal. Hang in there, I'm sure those outstanding votes will pull you above the goal line.

Getting Sal and Rob Brading to Salem would be the icing on the cake. I can't say enough about the campaign Sal has run and the people who have helped him in Yamhill County.

I want Rep. Peralta to be on the floor in January, and I've got my fingers crossed on the counting of these ballots.

Thanks for all the work you've done, Sal--you make us proud.

And let me also pass along some praise for Phil Philiben, who took on an incumbent in Deschutes County and did damn well. Phil was probably outspent by 25 to 1, but made the race competitive and articulated the House Dem agenda relentlessly. Thanks for your work, too, Phil.

    Onward, PB

Great race Sal and a strong tribute to your organization and volunteers that you were able to stay right on top of things with little money (or none) or active support from the DPO. I have my fingers crossed here in Corvallis that your charting a new course up there. Tell Debbie R I said hi.

Sal...thank Kari for his "don't feed the trolls" scheme that led me to donate twice to your campaign, the first time in my life I've donated to someone I couldn't vote for.

I love travelling in Yamhill County, and wine country, and it would be so cool to feel it was in the hands of a fine Democrat like you.

    Hang in there...

    Sal:

I am SO dissappointed that you might not pull this one out. You've done great and I look forward to supporting you in two years! Run Sal Run!

Sal, you've made the grassroots proud by running an exceptional race. You've laid a foundation for the future regardless of the outcome this year.

So many thanks for running, Sal. Rep. Peralta does has a nice ring to it. You'll make it there, if not now, soon.

You should've heard how loud I yelled in the suite at the Hilton last night when I saw that it was showing you were winning, Sal. Jenny Greenleaf and I were so excited.

Lots of luck, and I'm crossing my fingers that you'll win.

I would've loved to have come down and helped out, but running field operations and such here in Mult Co kept me pretty busy. This weekend will be my first weekend off in I don't know how long. It'll be filled with sleep and house cleaning. ;)

    Keep the faith, Sal.

Man, I was marveling over Phil's great showing already, without knowing just how outgunned he was. Even more impressive!
