Who will get the pleasure of facing off against Rick Dancer for SOS of Oregon... It should be good comedy.

I was so proud and happy to be at Kate's victory party last night!

I'm grateful to Kate Brown for her leadership over the years on equality issues and iniative reform. And I'm looking forward to important changes at the office of Secretary of State. Perhaps now we can control the pests who mount nuisance ballot measures.

    KATE FOR STATE IN 08

Lee - If you really wanted "iniative reform", "changes at the office of Secretary of State" and "control [of] the pests who mount nuisance ballot measures", you should have supported Vicki Walker. Kate will be a decent placeholder until the next Congressional seat opens up. <yawn>

I had a nice chat with Vicki and would have voted for her if Kate hadn't been running. But, as I told Vicki, Kate has done more for equality in the Senate than any other person and for a longer time and I owe her lots. WRT reforms at State, as near as I can tell both women are absolutely equal.

I could never understand why someone would vote for somebody (or not) on one issue. Being bisexual doesn't give someone ownership of the issue of equality. BRO always supported Vicki Walker for good reason.

Bill, the last reason I would give for a vote for any politician is that person's sexual orientation. In the case of Secretary of State, there's very little that the office does but among the few important things that it does is to exercise some control over the initiative (or "mob rule") process. Rick Metzger absolutely refused to agree to control over frivolous ballot measures when I asked him about that aspect. I am pretty certain that Kate Brown will act in conjunction with the Attorney General to control such measures. Vicki Walker did not answer my question. Yes, that seems to be "one issue." But it's not when you consider the millions of dollars the ultra right wing has caused us to divert from progressive candidates (and that indeed was a major goal for them), and the loss of control over our legislature as a direct result!

Furthermore, nothing I've written detracts from Vicki Walker. And BRO's support for her is well justified. And I'd vote for her the next time she runs for the Senate. And I might have voted for her for SoS if I had not watched Kate Brown for as long as I had.
