Blumenauer tweets the House Democrats' retreat...

Kari Chisholm FacebookTwitterWebsite

Today, the congressional House Democrats headed off to Williamsburg for a retreat - mostly to discuss the economy.

At the moment, President Obama is speaking to the assembled members of Congress.

Congressman Earl Blumenauer, armed with both a Blackberry and an iPhone (yes, he carries both), is twittering the event... Here's the first few:

Obama makes entrance. What a difference year makes. Last year hard to get members to endorse Obama, now they are drawn like a magnet. (23 minutes ago)

Great to see Reggie Love and Marvin "the body man" with the President. They both have strong positive memories of the Oregon campaign. (23 minutes ago)

My 70 seconds with the big guy. He leans in, half hug and words about rebuilding America. Yes we will! (22 minutes ago)

    # I'm so glad that America can watch him make the case. I hope some in the Senate are watching. 8 minutes ago from web

Does Earl honestly think America is seeing this?

Don't get me wrong, I like what he says Obama is saying but if he thinks "America" is tuned in to see President Obama is speaking to the assembled members of Congress, his first step is to admit that crack is whack and that he is powerless over his addiction and that his life has become unmanageable.

Get on the damn cable news shows Earl and make the damn case!

I love the "disagree if you want, but don't come to the table with the same old arguments" comment the best. Damn skippy.

[Full disclosure: My built Earl's campaign website, but I speak only for myself.]

Well, FWIW, I watched it live on CNN, in full.

Is this the SAME crowd that took on the bankers for their expensive retreats and use of public funds to travel?

Change we can believe in? Not!

What? This is Williamsburg. 150 miles down the road from D.C. Not exactly Vegas. Is every retreat by your definition a boondoggle?

I need to check out his twitter feed . Hmmm, 167 followers. Guess people don't know, yet. He seems to have set it up election day, but has only made 25 updates. Nice one on the stupidity of congressional republicans trying to kill bike funding. Maybe if he posted more. It would be great for him to have his schedule added, in real time. "Now I'm meeting with an Enron exec to talk about carbon taxes"...

My favorite twitter persona is John Cleese, who averages about 10 twits a month and has over 57,000 followers. My favs were "Little Known Fact: Michael Palin's middle name is Edward, and he has an asteroid named after him called Sarah" and "London is remarkably wet. Bless her".

Someone socially acceptable to the blog should be summing Earl's twits for a weekly post. They're great. Don't know if he read this, but there's been an uptick in his twits.

Yup, Harry. Participation is what counts. Results are nice, but, hey...
