Jefferson Smith on Maddow: "I do cartwheels."

Kari Chisholm

Friday night on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show, guest host Chris Hayes was talking about the importance of state legislative races - particularly with respect to redistricting in 2011.

His guest? Our very own State Rep. Jefferson Smith (D-Portland).

Check it out.

Pitch perfect: loved the line about activism: something to the effect that "if we can capture the talent here, they won't go national", to which I would add "yet".

Something for me to look forward too for the upcoming Rocking Chair Days.

Thanks for the closeup, Mr. Demille; now let's all make calls today! Whether you want straight up engagement/ nonpartisan (Bus and student vote coalition from Kennedy School); issue-focused (VOE is doing it), or the candidate of your choice (Guv and Leg. from all over the place).

And there's a 4am lit drop tomorrow for brave souls.

To quote my friend Joe, "We can rest when we're dead!" Or as friend Christy says, "Let's leave it on the field!" Or, as my Grandfather used to say, "What did you do today to justify your existence?"

Actually Mr. Smith the saying is, "I'll sleep when I'm dead." penned by the infamous poet/philosopher Warren Zevon.

      Peace

Yeah...and Christy wasn't the first one to say "leave it on the field." Although my grandfather might've been the first to ask "What did you do today to justify your existence?"
