Punditology 2010: which political nerd will reign supreme?

Kari Chisholm FacebookTwitterWebsite

You're smart. You're political. When people whisper, "that's what THEY say," you're the one they're talking about.

With just a few days left in this election, it's time for another edition of the Punditology Challenge.

Will it be John Kitzhaber or Chris Dudley - and by how much? Will the Republicans win a second congressional seat in Oregon? Will the Democrats retain control of the U.S. Senate and House? What about in Oregon? How about those wacky three-way U.S. Senate races in Alaska and Florida? Will voter-owned elections survive in Portland? And what about all those ballot measures?

Correctly predict the the election results and we'll make you famous. You could be the next great Oregon TV pundit! There's no money in it, but if your crystal ball is the finest of them all - we'll bow down before your greatness and proclaim it to the world.

The deadline for your picks is Sunday night at midnight. So make your picks now, before it's too late!

Good luck!

...and I've fixed one error. It's Jaime Herrera, of course.

OK guys. I filled mine out. You needn't bother, because I'm totally up on the hotly contested Water District race in Malheur County, and you're not....

  • (Show?)

Not a challenge until I got to those OR House races.

Thanks, Kari for a challenging contest. I don't follow Lane County politics, so those are dart throws.

And it's tough to vote your head, not your heart. I marked several "winners" that were contrary to how I actually voted - though Governor Dudley was not one of them.

A better tie-breaker would have been: "Will Nancy Pelosi remain House Speaker in January?"

    Answer:

Yes - Pelosi switches to Republican at last minute and begs to keep her job.

    No - Hallelujah!!!

I put mine in. Those last two Wa-Co commissioners, I didn't know anything about those races. I had to use the force.

Of course, it goes without saying that some of the races I picked the winner in, I hope I'm wrong about.

Okay, okay... another poll, and I think Survey USA sucks, but this KATU poll has Kitz up by 7, 48-41. Best margin so far. http://www.katu.com/news/local/106348063.html

Done, thanks Kari. Kitz is declared winner after 2 recounts. He takes fewer than 6 counties, but they are all up north. Murray finally wins over Rossi with another "interesting" recount of the recount in King County.

Current statewide returns show republicans at 39%, democrats at 35% and all others at around 25%. It will be a long night next Tuesday.

I predict several close races with outcomes not known for over a week.
