Brading: 3000-4000 ballots left to count

Lots of folks are waiting to find out if Rob Brading can yet pull out a victory over Karen Minnis. Here's the latest from Jon Isaacs at the Oregon House Democrats:

There are 50,000 ballots left to be counted in Mult. county. We JUST got that from Mult. county elections. We roughly estimate that is 3,000 - 4,000 in HD 49.

We are still hopeful that the #'s will turn back. HD 49 has distinctly different voting preferences by precinct.

So Rob isn't conceding anything just yet.

As of 2:00 today, he's down by 387 votes.

Brading crested last night and will not be able to pull ahead again. The numbers are trending up for Minnis as she has pulled 56% out of the latest ballots counted. You got your coveted House but you will not be able to take down your number one enemy. Better luck next time.

What leads you to believe that with 3000-5000 ballots in the district left to count, that the trend you claim of a 56% for Minnis will hold?

What are you basing it on?

Gary... let me explain something to you... We've got the House, and the funnest thing ever will be to see Karen Minnis in a teeny-tiny office over in the corner without a window. With one staff person... maybe two. With any semblance of clout gone. So that every child that cries out "Dear God what is that thing" will echo in her perfect ears.

There's more than one way to defeat an enemy... some sweeter than others.

    To Gary Adamsek:

She's gone at best. At worst, she's marginalized into obscurity. Ba-bye Cruella.

Minnis spent $1.3 million, and the best possible outcome is a minority rep with no power.

Because Minnis was forced to spend such a large sum fighting for her life, she was unable to give that money to other GOP candidates, and that's part of the reason the GOP lost the house.

Thats Right! It was great tactics on Dems part and with the political climate it played perfectly. GO Rob!

Everyone on here who is claiming that they don't care about Minnis retaining her seat because she is "marginalized into obscurity" is flat-out lying. Taking out Minnis was the true hope of the Dems, not taking back the House itself. You hate her for stopping SB 1000 and refusing to raise taxes. Wow....interesting reasons to hate a person.

Anon: Minnis spent $1.3 million, and the best possible outcome is a minority rep with no power.

She spent 1.3 million? Really? Where are you getting that number from? She didn't even raise that much so it's interesting that could have spent 1.3 million.

The trending right now doesn't look promising at 6:15 they have it at 567 vote lead for Minnis. We have to hope that changes, if not he may be conceding the race.

We don't hate Gary. That's reserved for the RIGHT. Ironically, it's because SHE hates that we rejoice in her pending obscurity.

Too bad there wasn't a Libertarian running in this race. If there was that might have tipped the vote to Brading more. Hopefully he'll pull it out after all the last minute ballots are counted.

There was a Lib. running in the race, but he was a fool and registered to run for State Rep and Mayor of Fairview and was thereby disqualified to run for both offices by the Secretary of State. The 80 or so write-in votes are probably for one, Mr. Brad Fudge. The same Brad Fudge who ran for the legislature in 2004 in Washington County and blamed Minnis and Scott for his defeat. Weird how this good friend of Rob Brading up and decided to move his business and life to little old East County a year later. Maybe, just maybe had he been smart enough to not disqualify himself from the ballot, he could have siphoned enough votes away from Minnis. Thanks Brad.

Anyone who thinks that the primary goal of progressives was to oust Minnis and not take the House is in serious need of a reality check.

Taking the GOP out of power in the House effectively neuters Minnis. She won't be running for leadership and she barely squeaked out her victory. Her constituency is very divided and she'd better moderate herself or she'll be in bigger trouble next time around.

Yesterday was a full rebuke for the corrupt and corrosive politics represented by Minnis and Wayne Scott. Make no mistake about it.

Sure, we'd love to have seen a house drop on the wicked witch of the East. Nonetheless, Minnis now passes the gavel to Jeff Merkley, and we WILL pass SB 1000 redux; voters DID pass M44 in repudiation of Minnis; and Minnis already sold out her own party on payday loan reform.

I still believe that she'll be defeated, but even if she's re-elected, she's just another representative in the minority now. Do you really think that her greed, costing Billy Dalto, Shirley Parsons, Dominic Biggi, Alan Brown, and Everett Curry a seat at the table, will go unnoticed to Wayne Scott? I know for a fact that Dalto had to cancel a $50k cable buy just because Minnis spent money previously promised to him. How much you think that billboard cost on I-84? Or the network ad buy? Of course she spent over a million bucks, and she ain't gonna be able to raise that kind of money next time.....

Her career is over, as are her chances of ever becoming Secretary of State. Good riddance to smelly, awful rubbish.

    Carla,

Thanks for stopping by. I suppose you kind of got bored over at your irrelevant blog considering NO ONE reads or comments on it. Well done Carla. Surely your blog really put the D's over the top.

Gee Gary..I guess its just enough that you read Loaded Orygun. I'm flattered you know about the blog and who I am. Thanks!

So no defense on your part for the fact that progressives were merely working to take out Minnis...so therefore taking the House is a loss? Delusion is as delusion does, eh?

After all that's gone down in Oregon and across the country, I'm pretty amused that there are trolls who are spiking the ball in the end zone over a three hundred vote win for a now-marginalized member of the statehouse. If you really wanna make a splash on this, I'd suggest you go with an Icky Shuffle, followed by a a Lambeau Leap into the stands. The adrenaline rush just might make you forget what just went down...

IckEy, my good friend Tim, IckEy!

LO is irrelevant? Whew, now I can stop posting to it. I'm tired of carrying water for people who don't deserve to have it carried for them! I was hoping some conservative wouldn't call us on our irrelevancy...damn. Now someone has, and all we can do is close shop and give up. Sorry, progressives. We had our soft teeth kicked down our whiny throats, and now we're going home. It was a good fight; too bad we couldn't win. Maybe next time.

I stand corrected, sir! I apologize to you and the indefatigable Mr. Ickey Woods.

Speaking of indefatigable... I'd like to propose a tip of the hat to the poll workers who are busily counting the votes in HD 49. Regardless of the outcome, it's good to not hear about problems in the processing.

Karen's reelection might just spark the rebirth of the Gay Liberation Front. While we have a victory in the house and the senate it feels like a limp dick to hear that Karen's constituents voted their troll back in office. I mean really East County your hero might have christmas cards for Jewish people, but god damn she has a thing out for the working poor, the sick, and gender minorities.

We all know she has thin skin, but i hope every day in Salem she weeps over her resounding impotency as the democratic house continues to pass progressive legislation and a new SB1000.

To the hard working people at the Brading campaign, you did fine work and in 2008 she will be going down.
